LUCKNOW: After passing orders to get land of Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust (RGCT) situated in Jais area vacated, the Amethi district administration’s is likely to scan the RGCT and its affiliated organisations’ work at Peeparpur (Amethi) and the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Amethi.

“The land given to RGCT or its affiliated organizations in other areas is also under probe. This includes the land being used by the Manuj Kalyan Kendra at Peeparpur and the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital at Munshiganj,” said a senior officer.

“A complaint has been given to Amethi district administration about misuse of land by the Kendra at Peeparpur. The lease conditions of the land given for Sanjay Gandhi Hospital have also been violated. Under the lease conditions a medical college should have been set up at Munshiganj.

The Samajwadi Party government renewed the lease though no medical college has been set up on the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital’s premises,” said senior BJP leader of Amethi Uma Shankar Pandey, who filed the complaint to demand probe into misuse of land given to the RGCT and affiliated organization.

Pandey had given his complaint to union minister for textiles Smriti Irani, who in turn wrote to chief minister Yogi Adityanath for a probe. The RGCT officials were not available for comments.

Sources said the RGCT would explore legal options following Amethi district administration’s order to get the RGCT land vacated. The Congress is also getting ready to fight a political battle against probes being ordered at the behest of BJP. “We will fight a political battle on the issue. The trust has been doing a good work and more than six lakh families are being benefitted,” said Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha representative Chandrakant Dubey.
