ALLAHABAD: In a shocking incident, a constable was shot dead allegedly by his own 17-year-old son on Saturday night after he scolded him for not paying attention to his studies, police said.

Constable Motilal Pal, 45, a native of Chayal in Kaushambi district, was posted at the writ cell in Bhadohi district while his wife Anita, daughter Divya and his son used to live in Bhoosa Gali of TP Nagar.

Motilal, who was on a leave, reached home on Saturday and had a tiff with his wife.

He also scolded his son for securing low marks in his class 11 examination and asked him to pay attention to studies.

The boy, however, got agitated and attacked his father. He allegedly shot Motilal in the head with a country-made pistol which he had hidden in the house.

The murder came to light on Sunday night when Motilal’s brother Ram Chander reached the house.

He grew suspicious when his nephew refused to open the door. He broke open the door and found his brother’s body lying on the floor. Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Allahabad, Anand Kulkarni reached the spot and carried out investigations. The body of the middle aged man was later sent for a post-mortem examination.

Motilal’s father Ram Prasad lodged a report in this connection accusing his daughter-inlaw and grandson of murder.

Circle officer, Civil Lines, Shreesh Chandra said the police were interrogating the accused to ascertain the involvement of other people in the incident.

THE MURDER CAME TO LIGHT ON SUNDAY NIGHT WHEN MOTILAL’S BROTHER RAM CHANDER REACHED THE HOUSE. HE GREW SUSPICIOUS WHEN HIS NEPHEW REFUSED TO OPEN THE DOOR.
