A few hours of rain left many Lucknow areas waterlogge­d on Wednesday. Like in Patel Nagar (above) many vehicles had to wade through knee deep waters to reach their destinatio­ns.

LUCKNOW: The weather department has predicted more rain for Lucknow and adjoining areas in the coming days.

As per the forecast, eastern parts of the state will get more rainfall than the western Uttar Pradesh.

Till date, Uttar Pradesh has received 14% less rain this monsoon.

While the rain deficit for West UP is 26%, in East UP it is pegged at 7%, the weatherman said.

Banda has highest rain deficit of 26%, Lalitpur 18%, and Mahoba 17%.

The met department is hopeful that rain deficit will reduce in coming days as monsoon current is still strong.

In contrast, districts from where river Ganga is passing through received surplus rainfall.

Allahabad received surplus of 27%, Varanasi 18% and Kanpur 2%.

While Lucknow received 17.4 mm rain on Wednesday, the rain deficit for the state capital is still pegged at 7%.

The met department has predicted partly cloudy sky in Lucknow for Thursday. Rain/thundersho­wer is very likely in some area.

Maximum and minimum temperatur­e would be around 32 and 26 degree Celsius respective­ly.

The forecast for the state is rain/thunder showers very likely at most places.

The met department has issued warning of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over the state.

Meanwhile, Wednesday’s rain led to water-logging at several parts of the state capital.
