NCP observes unity day for secular forces
LUCKNOW:Over 100 people braved rain as they gathered near Gandhi statue in Hazratganj on Wednesday to observe unity day for secular forces on the call by state unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
The call to unite against antisecular forces was given to all secular and democratic organisations and parties of the state.
“We feel that during the last three years, all democratic institutions have degraded and value of our composite culture is continuously being threatened by those who are in power in the centre,” said Ramesh Dixit of NCP. Dixit said, “Democracy has to be protected and above all Hindu Muslim Unity is the crux of country’s secular fabric. We are seeing that Muslim minority are feeling largely alienated,”
The UP Nationalist Congress Party resolved to bring the minority community out of fear. Apart from NCP members, political leaders from other parties also joined in to extend solidarity.
Among those who were present include RLD state chief Dr Mohd Masood, state president of Rashtriya Janata Dal, Ashok Singh and vice president of UP Congress Siraj Mehdi.
Dixit said, “A number of political party leaders extended their support to our call.”
