Principal secy (home), DGP to tour districts

-

LUCKNOW: Principal secretary (home) Arvind Kumar and director general of police Sulkhan Singh will start visiting the districts of the state from the next week to review the law and order situation.

After visiting the districts, the officers will submit their report to the state government.

The move comes less than two weeks after party MLAs and MLCs told BJP national president Amit Shah in Lucknow that officers did not meet them and, instead, dumped their complaints.

Later, chief minister Yogi Adityanath called a meeting of ministers and senior officials. He told them to meet MLAs regularly and redress their grievances on priority.

The officials were told to visit the districts to monitor development projects and welfare schemes launched by the state government. The home and police department officials were directed to review the law and order situation in the districts. The state government has already appointed senior IAS officers in-charge of various districts. During the tours, the principal secretary (home) and the DGP will hold meetings with top district administration officials. Inspector general (law and order) Hari Ram Sharma said the principal secretary and the DGP will visit Kanpur on August 12, Azamgarh on August 19, Bareilly on August 26 and Jhansi on September 2.
