It’s a plot to defame chief minister: HYV

LUCKNOW: At a time when chief minister Yogi Adityanath is facing flak from all quarters for the tragic death of over 30 children at Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College allegedly due to lack of oxygen gas cylinders, the Hindu Yuva Vahini has come out strongly in support of Gorakhnath Math ‘Mahant.’

The Hindu Yuva Vahini, an outfit floated by Yogi Adityanath in April 2002, sees a larger conspiracy in the tragedy and a ploy to defame the government.

PK Mall, state incharge of the Hindu Yuva Vahini, based in Gorakhpur, holds the BRD Medical College administration responsible for the tragedy.

“The incident could have been easily avoided. The hospital staff is responsible for it,” Mall told HT over phone from Gorakhpur.

“The chief minister was in Gorakhpur and the hospital administration kept him in the dark. If there was any payment issue with the company (Oxygen cylinder supplier) then the CM should have been apprised about it,” said Mall.

“We see a sinister design by some people to defame the CM and the government,” he added.

Justifying his point, Mall stated that the CM could only provide funds and roll out projects but responsibility of implementing them is on officials.

Even on social networking site, Twitter, people have come out in support of the CM.

A Twitter buff, Eminent Intellectual@padhalikha, tweeted: “If only stupid Uttar Pradesh walas had elected a secular government we’d have happily ignored these deaths as we did since 1980s.”

Rakesh Rai, state coordinator, Hindu Yuva Vahini, also sees a sinister design in the BRD tragedy.

“Stern action will be taken against those who are responsible for the incident. Yogi Ji will not spare anyone,” Rai told HT.

“The incident is tragic. But now even normal deaths are being portrayed as deaths due to lack of oxygen supply. Such things will not be tolerated,” said Rai.

Raghvendra Pratap Singh, MLA from Domariyaganj, and a Yogi loyalist, also stood by Yogi and suspected foul play in the Gorakhpur incident.
