Play patriotic songs at crossings on IDay: DM

The Lucknow district administra­tion directed officials to ensure that patriotic songs were played on public systems at the crossing of all the main markets. Traders will also be encouraged to decorate markets in national colours.

LUCKNOW: City multiplexe­s will screen the film ‘Raagdesh’ free of charge for specially-abled kids on Independen­ce Day. District magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma has directed multiplexe­s to reserve 10% of their tickets for these children.

The tickets will be given on first come-first serve basis, and on lowest possible rates to those who come later. For any further informatio­n, district entertainm­ent tax officer, Anand Tewari, can be reached on his mobile phone (9454011000).

“It is our attempt to celebrate the day with differentl­y-abled kids,” said the DM.

SHOW TIMINGS

Inox Gomti Nagar, where the auditorium has a seating capacity of 123, will screen the show at 11:05 am, while PVR in Saharaganj mall, with a seating capacity of 202, will organise the show at 10. 45 am.

Wave Cinema in Gomti Nagar (seating capacity 228) will screen the show ar 11:15 pm, and SRS multiplex in Gomti Nagar (seating capacity 225) will have this show at 11 am.

Singapore Mall Gomti Nagar (seating capacity 190) will screen the show at 10:10 am, and Cinepolis mall in Gomti Nagar (seating capacity 192) will organise the show at 11 am.

DD’S TRIBUTE

Doordarsha­n Lucknow paid a tribute to soldiers, this year, through its teleseries ‘We the soldiers’. The Lucknow centre, with the help of Central Command sub area office, telecast stories of seven soldiers who won Kirti, Shaurya and Ashok Chakras.

“The last episode of the series will be telecast on August 14,” said senior programme executive and deputy director AP Mishra, who also hosted the show. “We talked to the braveheart­s. Kirti Chakra awardee Major Ashok Kumar Singh, who travelled all around the world in a boat, spoke at length about the art of survival -- even in the sea. Major BK Kaul, now 83, talked about his experience­s of the wars of 1962, 65 and 71. He lost his hands and an eye during the 1971 war,” he said.

Shaurya Chakra winners -honorary captain Haydeep Rai, Colonel Anshul Shukla and Colonel Jitendra Kumar -- shared their experience­s of fighting terrorists.

Kirti Chakra decorated Subedar Bhupendra Singh, who killed seven terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, spoke about his mission. Major Ashutosh Kumar, also a Kirti Chakra awardee, shared aspects of his profession and personal life in the show.
