Naik to students: Emulate Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay
LUCKNOW: Advising students to emulate Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay, one of the most important leaders of the erstwhile Bharatiya Jana Sangh, governor Ram Naik said they should stay happy while acquiring knowledge so as to become a source of inspiration for others.
Naik expressed these views at a felicitation function held to fete talented students of Vidya Bharati, UP East, at Madhav Sabhagarh in Nirala Nagar on Sunday.
“Vidya Bharati is working as a factory in churning out good and exceptionally talented students. The paramount duty of the students is to acquire knowledge. When talented students are feted, they not only get recognition but also become source of inspiration for all,” the governor said.
He felicitated five former students of Saraswati Shishu Mandir and Vidya Mandir selected to the civil services this year.
They included Manoj Kumar Rathore, Shashank Tripathi, Ashutosh Dwivedi, Shreyansh Mohan and Vivek Anand Sharma.
Special invitee Padam Shri Brahm Dev Sharma said Vidya Bharti was doing great work in the education sector and that children from poor family had immensely benefited from these schools.
“Last year a Muslim boy, Sarfaraz Hussain, had topped the Vidya Bharati examination. Vidya Bharati never discriminates among students on the basis of their religion, caste or creed,” he said.
Sharma also appealed to its students to work for nation building. The felicitation function was presided over by Yatindra Sharma, a senior official of the organisation.
Vidya Bharati, the educational wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, runs more than 12,350 schools and about 50 colleges with a combined enrolment of nearly 35 lakh students.
There are also more than 2,37,500 students enrolled in over 9800 Saraswati Sanskar Kendras, that Vidya Bharti runs and the plan is to have one lakh such kendras or Ekal Vidyalayas in far-off villages and tribal areas.
