LU to reward research scholars, faculty
To encourage students towards quality research, the Lucknow University will soon start rewarding its research scholars and faculty members.
A research scholar, on the recommendation of his/her supervisor and head of the department, will be given a cash prize of ₹1100 for every paper published in a journal listed in UGC approved journal list.
“In case of multi-author paper, only first author will be given the reward. The reward will be given for a particular academic session,” said NK Pandey, LU spokesperson.
A faculty member on the recommendation of the head of the department will be given a cash reward of ₹1100 for the papers published in an international journal listed in UGC approved journal list, and also for the book published by an international publisher.
The application through proper channel shall be sent to Internal Quality Assurance Cells (IQAC) office by September 15 of a particular year. The award will be declared by November 25 after scrutiny of the applications through a committee duly constituted by the vice-chancellor for this purpose. The university will provide a grant of ₹10,000 to a faculty member with proven good track record of research (at least 5 publications in last 3 years).
Half of the grant will be released after getting the assessment report of an expert committee constituted by the vice-chancellor. Rest of the grant will be released after submission of the final report and deliverables to the IQAC office.
In case of limited number of slots assistant professor will be preferred over associate professors and professors.
The consultancy services provided by the university academic staff is one of the important component of research and development activities.
It appears that due to lack of crystal clear policies regarding remunerative consultancy on the part of the university, a state of confusion prevails among faculty members. This confusion discourages the faculty members to provide consultancy services at the institutional level.
No faculty member should be involved in any type of remunerative/non-remunerative consultancy without prior permission from the varsity.
