Sunrise Club lift football league trophy

Spirited Sunrise Club lifted the glittering trophy of the District Football League-2017, trouncing defending champions Army Medical Corps (AMC) 3-0, at the Chowk Stadium here. Winners dominated the proceeding­s from the very beginning and scored goals on regular intervals. Vinod drew the first blood in the 15th minute (1-0), before Ankur striking the second one in the 22nd minute to take the score to 2-0. Though AMC men came out with some good defense in the second half of play, they found the rivals a tough nut to handle. Vinod had his second goal in the 50th minute to complete the formality.

CHATURVEDI SOCCER

The 15th Avinash Chandra Chaturvedi Memorial Inter-School Football Tournament will be held from October 14, at the Chowk Stadium here. Being organized under the banner of Avijai School Olympic Games, the tournament will be played in a different format this season. All the 32 school teams of Lucknow would be divided into eight pools of four teams in each. Pool topper from each pool will qualify for the quarterfin­als. The last date for entry is October 8.

FINE START

Ajay Gupta and Vijay Yadav struck three goals each as favourites Sports Hostel scored a fascinatin­g 17-0 win against Sports College in the opening match of the Senior Lucknow Hockey League-2017, at the Padamshree Mohd Shahid Stadium here on Wednesday.

Playing true to their reputation from the very start, Sports Hostel scored goals on regular intervals. Besides Ajay and Vijay, Ainual Haq, Qadir, Abhishek and Vishal shared eight goals between them, whereas Om Prakash and Abhay Singh netted a goal each.

CONVINCING WIN

Arvind Gautam took five for 13 as Drona Cricket Academy (DCA) defeated K Sports Cricket Academy (KSCA) by eight wickets to collect full points in the 1st Aryavart Cricket Trophy here on Wednesday.
