The Lucknow police was thrown into a tizzy when they received a call from an unidentified caller at police control room threatening to blow up UP Vidhan Bhawan on Friday midnight.

The hoax caller, Rajitram, 51,was arrested from his hideout in Chinhat late on Saturday night.

He hails from Ambedkarnagar but was staying in Lucknow for the past 25 years and worked as plumber.

The security and intelligence agencies were also put on alert and extensive drive was carried out on Saturday to sanitize the entire Vidhan Bhawan premises.

SSP Lucknow, Deepak Kumar, however, said it later turned out to be a hoax call allegedly made by a drunkard.

The SSP said the call was made by an unidentified man at the police control room and he was stammering a little bit as if he was heavily drunk.

He said the caller was using abusive language when the cops called him back on his number and later he switched off his mobile phone.

The senior superintendent of police said an FIR has been registered with Hazratganj police station in the matter.

He said initial probe revealed that the SIM was in the name of an Ambedkarnagar resident, but the mobile location was last tracked in Chinhat area.

He said further efforts are on to track the caller.
