AKTU appoints teachers for IET after 24 years

-

After a gap of 24 years, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) made appointments for 23 vacant teaching positions in the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). The institute had 32 vacant positions.

The IET got four professors, five associate professors and 14 assistant professors. The newly appointed teachers are mostly those who graduated either from IIT, IISc, IIIT or NIT. Most of them are those having PhD degrees.

The teachers were appointed after written examination. The envelopes of their appointments were opened at the executive council meeting on Tuesday.

To address the plight of students, the university has decided to set up a call centre that will entertain all complaints related to errors in mark-sheets or degrees, academic issues, doubts or any other grievances. Talking to HT, AKTU vice-chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak said members were unanimous that the university should take its Centre of Advanced Studies (that will run masters and PhD programmes in different disciplines) to greater heights. It was also resolved that professional teachers will be in a better position to frame course for Design Institute for AKTU Noida campus. The EC members enquired about the recently launched start-up programme of the university. AKTU had set up the Lucknow chapter of Startup Accelerator India (SAI) to promote startups and to incubate innovative ideas among students. The university signed a memorandum of understanding with Startup Accelerator India under Anand Govindaluri, managing director and chief executive of Singapore-based Govin Capital. “We will help engineering college students, IITians and medical students to be a part of this grand initiative. As many as 40-50 ideas will be picked for the event,” a university official said.
