Cab driver and two friends held for loot, ₹4.8 lakh recovered

LUCKNOW: The Gomti Nagar police arrested one cab driver and his two associates on Wednesday who were involved in a loot of Rs 5.50 lakh from two passengers travelling in the taxi.

Cops who nabbed the accused near Mithai Wala crossing, also recovered Rs 4.80 lakh, one SBI ATM card and the taxi used in the crime.

Those arrested has been identified as taxi driver Divendra Kumar Nishad and his two associates Sunny Singh Nishad and Shivendra Singh, all natives of Lucknow.

According to reports, Manish Varma, a resident of Shravasti Apartment, Gomti Nagar, sent his two domestic helps, Vikas and Anshu, to Shahjahanp­ur on August 20 to collect Rs 5.50 lakh from his relative.

Varma also hired a taxi for his employees for the journey, whose driver was Divendra Kumar Nishad.

On way back to Lucknow, when the taxi driver came to know that the two passengers were carrying money, he befriended them and offered them liquor.

Divendra also informed his two friends in Lucknow over phone and planned the loot.

When they reached Lucknow late on August 21, near Nehru Enclave in Gomti Nagar the taxi driver stopped the car.

His two friends were already waiting there.

The trio snatched the bag from Vikas and Anshu and also injured them when they opposed.
