LUCKNOW: Four doctors, including chief medial superintendent, of the Rani Laxmi Bai hospital were booked on charges of unintentional murder following a court order on Thursday.

The case was lodged against CMS Dr RK Chaudhary, Dr PC Jain, Dr SK Rai and Dr RN Gupta under section 304 A of the Indian Penal Code (causing death by rash or negligent act).

Chief judicial magistrate Sandhya Srivastava passed the order on an application of Renu Shukla, wife of Atul Shukla, an electrician of the Rani Laxmi Bai hospital.

Atul, a contract worker, received an electric shock on August 22 last year while carrying out a repair work in the hospital.

Renu has accused doctors of not providing proper medical aid to Atul resulting into his death a week later.

Renu informed the court that her husband was admitted to the Civil Hospital but after few hours he was again brought back to the Rani Laxmi Bai Hospital despite the fact that the hospital does not have a burn unit.

Due to lack of proper treatment, Atul’s condition kept on deteriorating that led to his death.

The CJM has ordered the station house officer, Talkatora, to investigate the case.

Vikas Tripathi, superintendent of police (west), stated that after complete investigation exact cause of death could be ascertained.
