LUCKNOW: Irked over alleged inaction by the police in the case of the death of an employee of the state revenue department, the employees boycotted work on Friday. Officials said the boycott would continue till the FIR is lodged.

“It’s been two days since our colleague was found dead in the department and police haven’t lodged FIR in the case. It’s inhuman on their part,” said Nishil Kishore Srivastava, convener of Zila Rajasva Karamchari Sangharsh Samiti.

Srivastava said, “The postmortem report clearly mentions it a death under mysterious circumstances. We want immediate action in the matter.”

Vishal Singh, 56, an employee of the state revenue department, was found dead at his room at Malihabad tehsil, on Wednesday morning under mysterious circumstances. The deceased was a Kanungo and was posted at the Malihabad tehsil on the city outskirts.

Ongoing work boycott affected the working of the tehsil as no work was carried out throughout the day. Officials said, they will launch a huge demonstration if probe is not ordered in the matter. The demonstration was led by Kamlesh Mishra.

Officials said they would also meet the chief minister if their plea is not heard.
