Adityanath announces financial aid for flood victims
GORAKHPUR: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath took stock of floodhit villages of Gorakhpur, Maharajganj and Deoria districts on Friday. He had visited Gorakhpur’s flood affected Matiyara and Bhaska villages in Pipiganj on Thursday.
The CM, who began his day by feeding his pet cows at Gorakhnath Temple and holding a Janta Darbar, met flood victims in Jhangha and Chauri Chaura. He assured them that both the state and the central governments were with them in their critical time.
Yogi said the state government would provide a compensation of ₹95,100 each to those who had been rendered homeless in the flood. In Khadkhadiya village of Gorakhpur, Yogi gave ₹95,100 each to Chandra Bali, Rajkumar and Suresh whose pucca houses were damaged in the flood. He said a similar amount would be directly transferred into the accounts of those whose houses had been damaged.
He added that ₹4 lakh each would be given to the next of kin of those who had lost their lives in the calamity.
Those who had lost their means of livelihood will also be helped by the government, he assured people while distributing relief material to the flood victims.
“Compared to previous years, the flood is quite bigger this time but the government hasn’t let fund crunch hinder rescue and relief work,” the CM claimed.
Directing officials to speed up rescue operation, Yogi said those showing laxity will not be spared. In Maniram where a dam was damaged on Wednesday, he asked people to use only chlorinated water.
The chief minister asked the district magistrate to ensure availability of pure drinking water in flood affected areas and distribution of chlorine pills to avoid spread of diseases.
As some posters declaring that Basgaon MP Kamlesh Paswan was missing from his flood affected constituency were found pasted on walls, the CM also directed local lawmakers to come forward and extend help to the flood victims in their areas.
