LUCKNOW: Twenty buffaloes allegedly meant for an Unnao slaughter house, were recovered in Para area on Saturday night while being transported in a truck from Balrampur via Lucknow. Police arrested four people for illegal transportation of the buffaloes for slaughter.

Inspector of Para police station, Parshuram Singh said the truck driver increased the vehicle’s speed when police team tried to stop them during checking at Ring Road intersection. He said the truck driver hit the police patrol vehicle and even tried to crush two police personnel in an attempt to flee from there. The truck driver slowed down a bit and was intercepted in front of the Urdu Academy on Mohan road after a chase of few metres, he added.

He said 20 buffaloes were stuffed badly into the truck when checked.

The inspector said the arrested persons revealed during quizzing that they had bought the buffaloes from Balrampur animal market and were taking it to an Unnao slaughter house for killing. He said the arrested persons have been booked for cruelty to animals, damaging the police vehicle and trying to crush police personnel.
