ONLY LOW RUNG STAFF AXED

-

LUCKNOW: A panel of three doctors is conducting an internal inquiry into the incident in which the body of a woman was mauled by dogs in the morgue of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. The authorities have removed two security supervisors, a ward boy and a security guard but accountability of senior people, who are responsible for the overall functioning of the hospital, is yet to be fixed. The panel will submit its report to the hospital authorities who will present it before the state government. In the past, there have been several cases in which patients were subjected to negligence and action was taken against lower rung staff only, no senior was held responsible for the flaw in the system. An alive newborn child was declared dead and handed over to the parents. The father noticed signs of life when he removed the shroud to see the face of the child for the last time. A surgeon here was caught doing private practice by referring patients to a private hospital. This incident came to light when one of his patients died during a simple gall bladder operation. The latest incident was the death of a woman from Chinhat due to negligence. The hospital is undergoing the process to be merged with the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences to start a 150 seat MBBS course. Once this is done, doctors from the hospital will be eligible to face interviews and become medical teachers.
