RSS lauds Modi govt’s handling of Doklam standoff with China
VRINDAVAN: The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh had commended the Narendra Modi government for the “tough handling” of the Doklam standoff issue with China in the Sikkim sector, RSS leader Manmohan Vaidya said here on Sunday.
He said the issue of external security was discussed during the three-day coordination meet here.
Interacting with the media on the concluding day of the meet , Vaidya said, “It was probably the first time India dealt with the border issue with China in such a manner that it emerged as a ‘strong’ nation. This strength of India was seen and acknowledged by the world.”
When asked about demonetisation, the RSS leader admitted that initially it caused ‘shocks’ but after understanding its benefits, the masses recovered. In a diplomatic reply, he said that it was ‘too early to comment’ on its effect in future.
He denied evaluation of either the central or the state governments’ work during the coordination meet and said that chief minister Yogi Adityanath came just because the meet was being held in the state of which he was the chief minister, not for evaluation of his governance by RSS.
Dr Vaidya said the coordination meet was a routine affair, organised so that 35 organisations under the umbrella of RSS, which function on their own, could gather and exchange their experiences.
“We took up various issues, including that of minimising caste-based differences to promote harmony and brotherhood in society. The social issues arising out of nuclear families were discussed and family values were stressed , along with a discussion on traditions in our celebrations and day to day life,” said Dr Vaidya, adding that it was due to these values that India was least affected during global recession.
Talking about the economic aspects discussed during the meet, Dr Vaidya highlighted the need for creation of more jobs to deal with unemployment which could be done through ‘Swadeshi model’ by encouraging small scale and agriculture-based industry with focus on education and employment generation.
“Besides the threat on the border, there is also an economic threat, so we need to support the initiatives of Swadeshi Jagran Manch and Laghu Udyog Bharti which are based on the nation’s pride,” he said.
On the Ram Mandir issue, the RSS leader held that the matter was pending before the Supreme Court which would decide it in due course of time.
He also talked about the ‘Seema Jagran Manch’ of the RSS working in villages near the border areas to support the residents there. He was of the opinion that all could not be left to the government and society too had to contribute for betterment of the nation.
