National Book fair from Sept 8

LUCKNOW : The 10-day 15th National Book Fair is all set to commence from September 8 on Moti Mahal lawns here.

Themed as “Khoob badho khoob padho”, the book fair will be inaugurate­d by the chief guest Gairul Hasan Rizvi, chairman of National Minority Commission, Government of India, at 5 pm.

Entry is free and a minimum 10% discount is guaranteed as always to the book lovers.

While addressing a press conference, organizers Astha Dhall, Aakarshan Jain and Manoj Singh Chandel talked about the never ending benefits of books in the virtual world.

Known publishers Prabhat Prakashan, Rajkamal, Lokbharti, Sahitya Bhandar, Sadhna, P.M. Publicatio­ns, Wiley India, Oxford University Press, Scholars Hub, Gomti Agencies, Giddeons, Padam Books, Student Book, Book Affairs etc will be a part of the fair and also many new ones will join this time.

Arrangemen­t of a free separate stall has been made like always for the local writers to showcase and sell their books.

For the first time, a programme named “Meet the Doctor” is organized in the fair where the public will get an opportunit­y to discuss their health issues and seek solutions from the medical specialist­s and experts. Cultural programmes like kathak and ghazal recitals, plays will be the highlight of the fair. On September 10 evening, there will be a special “Kavi Sammelan”. Archery performanc­e on September 13 and an act on self protection by Warrior Academy will be held on September 16.
