‘Chief minister sympathetic to problems of shiksha mitras’
Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, who distributed loan redemption letters to farmers in Agra on Saturday, said that an amicable solution would be reached regarding the issues raised by shiksha mitras.
“The CM is sympathetic to their problems. A five-member committee was formed, which enhanced their remuneration from ₹3,500 to 10,000 a month. The discussions are still on and the matter will be resolved amicably.” The deputy CM addressed a gathering at CTO ground, where he distributed agricultural loan waiver certificates in compliance with the poll promise made by BJP to the farmers in state.
“Loan waiver is a step in the direction of achieving the prime minister’s target of doubling farmers’ income by 2022,” said Sharma.
“We were committed to the promise we made and took the historic decision of waiving off loans availed by 86 lakh small and marginalised farmers in UP. This is a major decision as 70% population here is directly or indirectly linked to agriculture,” he said.
‘In Agra alone, 1,16,962 small and marginalised farmers have benefitted from the loan waiver scheme. In the first phase, 24,247 farmers (who had their loan accounts linked with Aadhar cards) have been chosen. Those who are still to link their accounts will be covered in the second phase,” he added.
