METRO JOYRIDE FOR SPECIAL KIDS OF DRISHTI SAMAJIK SANSTHAN
LUCKNOW: To bring joy to the special children of Drishti Samajik Sansthan, LMRC organised a Metro ride for them on Monday morning. The kids, who had never before travelled on a train, boarded the Metro at Charbagh station and rode till Transport Nagar station. There were 18 children - some who couldn’t see the train and the modern Metro stations, some who couldn’t hear much, and others who saw and heard but couldn’t talk about their experiences. They were accompanied by five teachers and the director of the rolling stocks (LMRC) Mahendra Kumar. “We will keep bringing on board people who have dreamt of travelling in a Metro, but either don’t have the money or are incapable of using public transport due to some physical or mental weakness,” said Kumar. Atharv Bahadur of Drishti Samajik Sansthan (Jankipuram) expressed gratitude towards the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation. “It was the first time these kids boarded any train. We are thankful to LMRC that they arranged this tour for our students,” he said. There was plenty of excitement and joy on display. The kids were told about the journey of the Lucknow Metro project, and were also taken for a tour of the gallery area by the LMRC staff. “I don’t know how the train looks, but today I loved travelling on it. I want to come here again and again,” said a student. One of their teachers said, “These children have limitations that keep them from travelling on buses or trains. So, when the Metro authorities approached us with this idea, we were happy that’s at least some people in the city think about these things and have the zeal to organise something like this.” Later, the kids wished all the best to Lucknow metro.
