₹7 cr ‘KBC’ win prank creates waves
A prank played by a PCS officer in Shikohabad travelled further than he had estimated, but he seems to be enjoying all of it.
Despite having received (from an app) a fake auto generated cheque of Rs 7 crore, PCS officer Rakesh Chandra on Monday posted his photograph on facebook with the fake cheque.
His friends in Lucknow allegedly added to the drama and posted the photograph on the Whatsapp group of UP PCS officers, mentioning that Chandra was the first contestant to win Rs 7 crore in Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) this season.
Chandra, PCS officer of 2015 batch, is deployed as nayab tehsildar at Shikohabad tehsil of Firozabad district.
Hailing from Kanpur, Rakesh aspires to become IAS officer and is waiting for result of the qualifying examination he had appeared for.
“There are many online games in the name of KBC besides the authorised KBC. However, I randomly chose one game not authorised by KBC and downloaded an app from playstore online on Monday. It took me 15 minutes to answer successfully the questions and after answering the question for Rs 7 crore, an auto generated cheque appeared on the app and gave me happiness of a sort despite it being a fake,” Chandra told HT on Tuesday night. “Just to share my moment of joy I, in lighter vein, posted it (cheque) on facebook but never knew it would go this far,” he said seemingly enjoying the attention he has drawing.
He used the opportunity to tell civil services aspirants that they should opt for such online games which increase general knowledge and test their preparedness.
He, however, denied any information of his facebook post being carried forward in Whatsapp group of PCS officers in UP, which created waves among media persons who began searching for him. He said it was only a prank that he did to have fun with his friends. ‘Had I won it really, wouldn’t I be flying to Mumbai,” he said.
