‘Smart city work for Allahabad from Nov’

The work of developing Allahabad into a smart city is likely to start in a couple of months. In the beginning the developmen­t work will be carried out keeping in mind the preparatio­ns required for the Ardh Kumbh fair 2019.

To begin with, the Allahabad Smart City Limited Company has been formed. The registrati­on certificat­e of the same was issued by the Registrar of Companies on August 29, 2017.

The company has the divisional commission­er as its chairman, the municipal commission­er as its chief executive officer (CEO) besides vice chairman of the Allahabad Developmen­t Authority (ADA), the general manager of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporatio­n Limited, Allahabad zone and director, local bodies as its members.

Incharge, IT cell of the Allahabad Municipal Corporatio­n, Mani Tripathi said the first meeting of company’s officials will be held on September 15 wherein the Project management consultant agency will be finalised for designing, developing and executing the mega exercise. “After the meeting and selection of management consultant of the project, work is expected to commence in November or December,” he informed. Allahabad along with two other UP cities Jhansi and Agra found place in the list of cities to be developed as smart cities on June 23 this year.

A total of Rs 2,239 crore has been projected as cost for making the city turn smart.
