KASHYAP MOVES INTO MAIN DRAW OF KOREAN SUPER SERIES

SEOUL: Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap moved to the main round of the men’s singles event of the Korean Super Series after registerin­g wins in the qualificat­ion matches on Tuesday.

In the first qualifier, Kashyap eased past Lin Yu-hsien of Taiwan in straight games, defeating him 21-19, 21-9 in just 35 minutes.

While in the second qualifier, he defeated Kan Chao Yu 21-19, 21-8 in 34 minutes.

He will now face Hsu Jen Hao of Taiwan on Wednesday in the first round of the tournament.

CHENNAIYIN SIGN GREGORY NELSON

CHENNAI: Chennaiyin FC on Tuesday roped in Dutch winger Gregory Nelson for the 2017-18 Indian Super League (ISL) football season.

The 29-year-old joins the 2015 ISL champions on a free transfer after the expiry of his contract at Bahrain outfit Al Muharraq.

A product of the AZ Alkmaar youth system, Nelson represente­d Netherland­s at the Under-17, U-18 and U-19 levels. Having made his profession­al debut at the age of 18 for Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivise, Nelson was then loaned to RBC Roosendaal in the Dutch Eerste Divisie.

PUNE CITY SIGN MIDFIELDER PUGLIARA

PUNE: Indian Super League (ISL) franchise FC Pune City on Tuesday announced the signing of Argentinea­n midfielder Robertino Pugliara for the next edition of ISL.

Pugliara began his career with San Lorenzo and later moved to Talleres de Cordoba. The Argentine spent most of his playing career with Indonesian clubs like Persija Jakarta.
