Hosts Aryavart Cricket Academy lift cricket trophy

LUCKNOW : A sparkling half-century by opener Vineet Singh and a fine bowling by Subash Kumar and Tushar Verma helped hosts Aryavart Cricket Academy (ACA) beat K Sports Cricket Academy (KSCA) by 69 runs to win the 1st Aryavart Cricket Tournament here on Thursday.

Vineet slammed 57-ball 59 with the help of eight fours and a six as ACA piled up 175 in 29.3 overs while batting first after winning the toss. Later, Subash (3/17) and Tushar (3/28) along with Aviral Patel (2/9) bowled out KSCA fopr 106 in 26.1 overs.

EASY WINS

SDS Cricket Academy and Abhijeet Sinha Cricket Academy (ASCA) notched up convincing wins to collect full points in the 2ND PP Dua Memorial U-16 Cricket league, at the Christian College ground here on Thursday. SDS Cricket Academy beat Lucknow Cricketers by 53 runs, whereas ASCA defeated Unity Academy by 85 runs.

CHESS SELECTION

An under-9 boys and girls selection tournament will be held on September 17, at the Excellia School here at 10.00 a.m. Players born on or after January 1, 2008 are eligible. Top two boys and girls will represent Lucknow district in the UP State Chess Championship to be held in Ghaziabad.

BADMINTON TOURNEY

Lucknow District Badminton Association on Thursday informed all the shuttlers to contact the authorities concerned by September 18 so that their entries in the state veteran’s tournament at Bareilly and state open event at Lucknow could be confirmed.

SCHOOL HANDBALL

The district junior and senior school handball tournament will be held on September 18 and 19 at Sunni Inter College here. Interested schools must contact Zakir Hussain at the Sunni Inter College.
