‘UP to set up special police force for industrial regions’
LUCKNOW: The state government plans to set up a dedicated police force in industrial regions to foster safe and secure environment for investors, according to chief secretary Rajive Kumar. Kumar.
The chief secretary, who was speaking at a seminar organised by PHD Chambers on Saturday, said specialised officers would head this force in industrial regions like Noida etc. Besides security, investors would also get good infrastructure and basic civic amenities.
He said UP was proving to be the most preferred destination for investment as it was ready to provide investor-friendly business environment with its transparent and speedy decision making process.
“Our promotional policy has got a very positive response from the industry and I am sure it would give the right impetus to growth,” the CS said adding further the state government was committed to speed up industrial development and encourage investment to create new job opportunities.
“Work on two new international airport projects is underway and UP will benefit to a great extent by the proposed DelhiMumbai industrial corridors projects of the Central government,” said Kumar.
He said Noida had already become the IT hub of the country and efforts were being made to promote and facilitate start-up forays in IT sector by giving various incentives to incubators and seed fund. To speed up industrial development a board has been formed under the chairmanship of chief minister, he said.
The state, he said, ranked first in potato, sugar cane, livestock and milk products. It also offered the largest market for consumption of food product. In addition, Uttar Pradesh is the top manufacturing destination in India contributing more than 8% of national manufacturing output.
The chief secretary also said UP contributed in a big way in providing educated workforce with its reputed educational institutions and eminent universities like- the Allahabad University, Aligarh Muslim University, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), IIT-Kanpur among others.
