Modi to hold dialogue with 700 Muslim, other minority women

VARANASI:Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a dialogue with 700 women of Muslim and other minority communitie­s at the Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) auditorium during his proposed visit to Varanasi on September 22.

The district minority welfare department will hold a meeting with madarasa officials on September 18 to prepare for the event.

A representa­tive each from aided and non-aided madarsas has been asked to attend the meeting.

District social welfare officer Rajesh Kumar Yadav, who holds additional charge of the district minority welfare officer, has confirmed the developmen­t.

He said all the Muslim women will be from Varanasi. A special identity card each will be issued to women to attend the dialogue session.

The district minority welfare office has issued a letter to an official and a teacher each from madarasas to attend the meeting in which minority department officials will prepare a list of the women. The group of women will include teachers, housewives, lawyers, commoners, social activists and those who have been vocal against the practice of triple talaque.

The Prime Minister may seek the opinion of Muslim women on various issues at the meeting.
