UP govt extends deadline for madarsas
Last date for submission of details is now September 30
The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday extended the deadline for all madarsas of the state to submit their details and register themselves on the newly launched website of the UP Madarsa Board by 15 days. The deadline had expired on September 15. “The last date for submission of details by madarsas is now September 30. They were facing some problems in uploading details which has now been resolved,” said Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, minority welfare minister.

“The last date for submission of details by madarsas is now September 30. They were facing some problems in uploading details which has now been resolved,” said Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, minority welfare minister.
The UP government had launched a website- http:// madarsaboard.upsdc.gov.in.- on August 18, especially dedicated to the madarsa board.
The government had instructed madarsas to upload pictures of classrooms or the total area, number of teachers, their Aadhaar numbers, account details etc on the board’s website by September 15 with an objective to bring transparency in the working of madarsas and bring qualitative improvement.
According to officials of the madarsa board, these institutions were encountering two major problems in uploading details on the website.
At the time of initiating registration process, madarsas were asked to submit contact numbers of their managers. But a large number of them were unable to do this due to management dispute and ongoing court proceedings related with the dispute. Another major problem faced by madarsas at the time of uploading details was the absence of ‘edit’ button. After uploading details, if a madarsa wanted to edit details, then there was no option to do this.
District minority welfare officer Balendu Kumar Dwivedi had apprised Rahul Gupta, registrar, UP Madarsa Shiksha Parishad, about the problems faced by madarsas in uploading details.
After taking into consideration problems being faced by madarsas, the state government decided to extend the deadline by 15 days. There are 560 aided madarsas in the state – the minority educational institutions that offer studies in Islamic theology and religious laws. In addition to this, there are around 4,600 partially-funded madarsas in UP.
UP has nearly 14,000 madarsas and so far around 6,000 have furnished details on the board’s website.
