A team of city doctors provided free consultation and medicines to people in the floodhit areas. The doctors visited Sitapur and Luv Kush Nagar in Lucknow on two consecutive days.

The team, led by micro-vascular surgeon Dr Vaibhav Khanna, visited Haraiya in Sitapur and conducted a free medical camp. Team comprised doctors and para-medical staff which provided medicines and flood relief material, flagged off by BJP state president Mahendranath Pandey, to the people of the region.

“Many villagers were suffering from chronic ailments and never had a chance to visit a doctor for treatment,” said Dr Khanna, director, Healthcity Trauma Centre and Superspeciality Hospital.

“All such patients were given medicine and advise for further treatment,” he added.

Another team went to Luv Kush Nagar in Lucknow on Sunday where people are troubled with vector-borne diseases and examined patients. Dr Manoj Mishra and Dr SPS Tulsi examined patients.

Medical education minister Ashutosh Tandon inaugurated the camp.

“For the entire monsoon season, the teams will keep on visiting the areas where flood has caused medical problems,” said Dr Khanna. He added that separate teams would be going to Hardoi, Bahraich, Barabanki, Faizabad, Gonda and Basti.

Another team was sent by the Indian Medical Association, Lucknow branch, to the flood affected districts in the state.
