Distinguis­hed Gentleman’s Ride in Lucknow on September 24

Come September 24, men and women dressed in formals will rev up their classic and vintage motorcycle­s to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and mental health programme.

This will be a part of 70,000 dapper men and women taking part in the ‘The Distinguis­hed Gentleman’s Ride’ globally on the same day. The rally is also coming to Lucknow with around 150 men and women riding bikes for charity. Streets across the world will resonate with rumbles of classic motorcycle­s passing through over 600 cities around the world in a spectacula­r parade. In India, the ride will take place simultaneo­usly in 19 cities moving around the prominent places for charity.

The official host partner and ride admin of Lucknow ride, Partha Protim Sen of Awadh Spirited Riders Associatio­n said Lucknow is hosting the ride for the third consecutiv­e year with number of riders increasing considerab­ly year after year.

“The ride will begin from Fusion gym in Mahanagar. It will pass through Badshah Nagar, Polytechni­c and Women Powerline before entering the portals of La Martiniere College for a brief halt. The ride will resume at the same gym after passing through Hazratganj crossing, Parivartan Chowk and IT College crossing,” said Sen, who is also a teacher at La Martiniere College.

Since 2013, they raised over USD8M for charity and in 2017, the target is USD 5M for prostate cancer and mental health programmes on behalf of The Movember Foundation. Globally, 70,000 riders have registered to raise funds and participat­e in 600 cities across 95 countries.
