BAREILLY: After fighting over installation of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay’s statue , BJP activists and Azam Khan have again locked horns, this time over a power house inside the boundary of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University. Azam Khan is chairman of the varsity.

The local BJP leaders have alleged that because the power house is inside the university, Azam Khan influences electricity supply from there. It was later enclosed inside the boundary of the university.

“The enclosure of the power house was done to encroach on public land which lay beyond it. Azam Khan then started influencing the electricity supply from the power house ,” said Suresh Gangwar, BJP Rampur district president .

Investigation by the electricity department proved that the allegation about the enclosure was true. However, there is no word on Azam influencing the electricity supply. Still, the department has initiated process to shift the power house out of the university.

“The university boundary wall on the periphery of the power house will be broken and an alternate route for the power house staff will be constructed,” said SK Pandey, executive engineer, electricity department.

“We have no problem if they shift the power house, but we will not allow anybody to break down a section of our boundary wall,” said Fasahat Ali Shanu, media representative of Azam Khan.
