LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said ‘nonperforming and corrupt’ political leadership had taken the state towards ‘anarchy’ and getting it rid of such an ‘unfortunate’ situation has been his government’s priority.

The government will begin the process to fill up vacant posts in a transparent manner and “there will be a flood of jobs for the youth in UP,” he said. The chief minister was speaking to media persons on completion of his government’s six months in office.

To mark the occasion, Yogi released a 56-page booklet titled “Badh Chala Uttar Pradesh -- Ek Nai Disha Ki Ore” on his government’s schemes and achievements.

Listing action taken against criminals and mafiosi in the past six months, Yogi said the state’s police had become an example for other states now. He said the efforts have resulted in creation of an investment-friendly atmosphere and a sense of security prevailed among the people now. “No riots took place in the past six months against an average of two per week earlier,” he said.

The CM said officers were earlier under constant fear that they may face action if they acted against criminals. “These officers have now worked out a roadmap for the state’s development,” he added.

Yogi said efforts of his government to ensure transparency would result in filling up of 1.5 lakh posts in police department in three years. Already the process to fill up 47,000 posts of sub-inspectors and 42,000 posts of constables had begun. He said six lakh youth have registered under skill development for self-employment and endeavor of his government was to take this to 10 lakh soon.

Yogi said in order to ensure transparency in its functioning, the e-office would be launched in state secretariat on October 1. This would be extended to district headquarters in November and the district headquarters would be connected to e-office from January 1, 2018.

Yogi said the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Bundelkhand expressway was being prepared and 70 per cent land for Poorvanchal Expressway had been acquired.

His government would launch a fresh drive from October 1 to make the state’s roads pothole free, he said. Yogi referred to highest GST collection in the state as an achievement of his government.

Yogi said his government would soon seek permission for linking the ‘khatauni’ (land records) with Aadhaar card to ensure it against fraud.

He said for the first time the state is moving away from caste and dynastic politics to welfare of farmers. He listed crop loan waiver, procurement of wheat and paddy and move to set up 20 krishi vigyan kendras and moves to provide farmers quality seed as measures in this direction.

The government will honour farmers who deposited crop loan amount before the waiver, he said.

The CM said his government had brought about an improvement in the power supply scenario adding that 24-hour power supply would be ensured during the upcoming festival season. BOX The chief minister targeted Akhilesh Yadav for his tweet on loan waiver of one paisa. “White Paper is an alibi for those who have forgotten their sankalp patra,” Yadav had tweeted.

The chief minister said: “Those who did nothing for farmers should introspect…. There are only about four thousand farmers among 11 lakh whose loan waiver amount is less than Rs 10,000… Akhilesh Yadav comes from a background that he will not even know the definition of a farmer. He should look at 86 lakh farmers whose loans are being waived. Those mocking at farmers now will become a laughing stock themselves.”
