MSY used, then ditched me: Amar

Rajya Sabha member and former Samajwadi Party (SP) heavyweight Amar Singh on Monday alleged that SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav used and ditched him to a prevent split in the Yadav family but failed in the effort to keep the family united.

“He (Mulayam Singh) used to tell me to come and meet him at his residence at 11pm and leave before 5am. We all know who makes such discreet and nocturnal visits. I am not a political paramour who can be used and discarded at will,” he said. Singh was talking to reporters here on Monday at the screening of a movie JD in which he also has played a role.

“I was called ‘outside uncle’ (by Akhilesh) and blamed for the feud in the Yadav family. Now that I am not in the party, what prevents them (Mulayam and Akhilesh) from coming together,” he quipped.

Singh, whose Rajya Sabha term comes to an end in 2022, blamed SP general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav for projecting him as the villain during the rift in the Yadav family.

Conspiracies and intrigue were part and parcel of politics, he said.

“I have been a victim of many political conspiracies. Such conspiracies are hatched from time to time in politics. I am not around now. In fact, I will never be around in the party (SP). But why is the (Yadav) family not uniting,” he asked.
