Six golfers in joint lead on day one at junior championsh­ip

LUCKNOW: As many as six players played one over to finish jointly on top on the opening day of the Uttar Pradesh Junior Boys Golf Championsh­ip, at the Palms Golf Club here on Tuesday.

In A category, Vishav Pratap Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Vaibhav Nair, Sandeep Yadav, Aaryomaan Bose and Daksh Shokeen with a gross score of 71 finished joint first.

In B category, Bishmad Pal Singh led the bunch. He was followed by Brashwar Pal Singh, Mandar Prashar and Biren Kumar.

GGSSC TRIUMPH

Lucknow’s Guru Gobind Singh Sports College defeated Saifai Sports College 5-3 in penalty shootout to win the State Schools Under-14 Boys Football Tournament in Gorakhpur. Nitish Patel, Nitish Shyam, Vikas Chaurasia, Neeraj Yadav and Vivek scored for the winners.

EASY WINS

DYA defeated Lucknow White by eight wickets to collect full points in the Rajendra Prasad Memorial Twenty20 Cricket league, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari stadium here on Tuesday. In other match of the day, AICC outplayed SDS Academy by 34 runs. Devrath Singh and Sundar shared six wickets between them for the winners.

EMPHATIC WIN

Dhruva Cricket Academy stormed into the next round of the 2nd PP Dua Memorial Under-16 Cricket Tournament, defeating SDS academy by 60 runs, at the Christian College ground here on Tuesday.

KAMRAN EXCELS

Kamran took five for five as Drona Cricket Academy beat Lucknow White Club by nine wickets in a league match of the 1st Satyabhama Mishra Memorial Cricket Tournament here on Tuesday. In other match of the day, ASCA crushed NDBG Cricket Club by 89 runs.

SELECTION TRIALS

The two-day district level trials to select women tennis and hockey teams begin on Wednesday, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here at 3.00 p.m. The regional trials would be conducted on September 23 and 24 before the teams travel to Agra to participat­e in the state tournament­s, scheduled to be held from September 28 to 30.
