This year, Aishbagh Ramlila will also have a tribal connect

The Aishbagh Ramlila will not only promote religious harmony, but also have a tribal connect this year. Special dialogues have been scripted to boost the image of characters like Kevat, Shabri, and warriors in the army of Lord Ram.

“Lord Ram spent years with tribals & backwards and hence his character is a source of inspiratio­n for them also. The Ramlila will promote religious harmony,” said Aditya Dwivedi, general secretary, Aishbagh Ramlila Samiti.

The special script is ready for the Shabri episode, which will have a tribal connect, while the Kevat episode will have schedule caste connect. Besides, the special connect with tribals will come to fore “Lord Ram’s army also comprised of tribals. Kevat was a close friend of Lord Ram and his dialogues would be the most important in the Ramlila,” said Dwivedi. He added: “We will also take out a huge procession in which almost-extinct Indian musical instrument­s like Morbean, Jheenka, Chilamchi, Lejam, Nagada, Manjeera, Turahi, Hudakbaza, Pipihari, Singi, Bagaldhaun­s, Been etc will be played. People from Dhanuk and Valmiki community make these instrument­s and play them. Hence, they will be leading the procession of Lord Ram.”

Women empowermen­t would be displayed through the character of Mandodari who demanded rights of a wife from Ravan when he kidnapped Sita. This year, 280 artistes from Bhaskar group of Kolkata, Vinhu Institute of Performing Arts, Commerce Spares and Dance spares, Bhatkhande Sangeet Sam Vishwavidy­alay, Rashtriya Kathak Sansthan, SNA, Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad would be performing various roles.
