Learn lessons from recent train accidents: NCR GM to officials
ALLAHABAD: General manager of the North Central Railway (NCR) MC Chauhan on Wednesday asked senior officers to learn lessons from recent train accidents and take note of the problems leading to mishaps.
Addressing divisional railway managers (DRMs) of all the three divisions via video conferencing during weekly safety/ punctuality meeting at NCR headquarters, Chauhan spoke about the points highlighted by Railway Board chairman Ashwini Lohani in a recent meeting.
Chauhan said senior officers should connect with the field staff regularly to know about real issues and find its solution.
Stressing on zero tolerance for corruption, an independent third party quality audit of cleanliness in trains would be conducted by the Quality Council of India.
He asked the DRMs to ensure that stations and trains of NCR remain in top 10 in quality audit of all the zones.
The chief security officer (CSO), NCR, said if any road construction work involving movement of vehicles near railway tracks was being done, it should be carried out with proper protection and fencing to ensure no vehicle came on the railway track. Issues such as broken springs in coaches, rail-weld failures, emergency cautions, mishaps on level crossings, loco failures, unwarranted alarm chain pulling (ACP) and cattle run over were also discussed in the meeting.
