Sports Hostel girls off to a fine start
Sports Hostel girls staged a fine show at the SN kapoor Memorial Mixed Hockey Tournament, notching up backto-back wins, at the CB Gupt ground here on Wednesday.
With Sonal striking two goals in the first half itself, Sports Hostel defeated Babu Society boys 3-0 in the opening match of the tournament. Shreya scored third goal.
There were some resistance from the Sunrising Star girls in the second match of the day, but they couldn’t stop Sports Hostel winning the encounter by 2-0. Vibha and Anjali Chaubey shared two goals between them.
STATE BADMINTON
The three-day State Badminton Championship in memory of Akhilesh Das Gupta begins on September 28, at the Babu Banarasi Das UP Badminton academy here. Over 200 shuttlers are expected to participate in events like men’s/women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
HANDBALL TEAM
A 12-member team would represent Lucknow in the State Junior Girls Handball Tournament, beginning Thursday at Ambedkarnagar. The team included, Sanju, Arpita Pal, Arushi Dubey, Sheetal Kumari, Shalini Agarwal, Anju, Afreen Afzal, Shivani Pathak, Siddhi Gupta, Anamika Dixit, Shruti Dixit and Aditi Awasthi.
SELECTION TRIALS
Trials to select district/regional junior boys and girls (under-18) athletics teams will be held on September 25, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ stadium here at 9.00 a.m. Lucknow team would be participating in the state athletics meet, scheduled to be held on September 28 and 29 at Agra.

Unique Sporting collect full points in the 1st Rajendra Prasad Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, defeating IPRK Club by 83 runs, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari stadium here on Wednesday. In other match of the day, Arya Academy beat K Sports by four wickets.

Tushar Yadav took six for 12 as Sandeep Cricket Academy defeated Young Challenger Club by seven wickets in a league match of the 2nd PP Dua Memorial Under-16 Cricket Tournament, at the Christian College ground here on Wednesday.
EMPHATIC WIN
Abhijeet Sinha Cricket Academy scored an emphatic 103-run win against National Youngster Club and bagged full points in the 1st Satyabhama Mishra Memorial Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday. Hosts Aryavart Cricket Academy ‘Green’ also had a five-wicket win against Standard Cricket Club in other match of the day.
