LUCKNOW: The state capital’s much-awaited annual fest, Lucknow Mahotsav, could get postponed this year too. District administration officials said the fest may not be able to start on November 25, as there could be a clash with the upcoming civic elections -- also scheduled in November. District magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said, “It will be difficult for officers to manage both events together. Hence it has been decided that if dates coincides, the Mahotsav will be postponed.”

Hence it has been decided that if dates coincide, the Mahotsav will be postponed.”

If this happens, it would be the third time since its inception that the fest would be postponed.

In 2015, the then district administration had decided to push the Mahotsav opening from January 27, 2016 to February 7, 2016, to avoid overlap with panchayat elections. “At that time, the entire official machinery was involved with the panchayat elections,” said a senior administrative officer.

Before this, back in the 1980s too the Mahotsav had to be postponed due to elections.
