VC calls on girls at Triveni hostel, assures security
VARANASI: Banaras Hindu University vice chancellor Prof Girish Chandra Tripathi called on the inmates at Triveni Girls hostel on Wednesday evening and apprised them that girls would also be included in the committee meant for hearing and addressing girls’ problems.
He assured the girls of addressing their problems on priority basis.
Tripathi said , “BHU has a committee, including women professors, members of social organisations and media persons as its members. It visits women’s hostels time to time and listens to girls’ problems and addresses them. Now, girls will be its members.”
A decision to this effect had already been taken, he said.
CCTV cameras of high resolution would be installed at 65 sensitive locations on the premises. The process to install the cameras has already begun.
For the security of girls, BHU will deploy senior girl students of physical education department under ‘earn while learn’ scheme, he said.
He has instructed the chief proctor to make arrangement for restrictive entry on the routes close to the women’s hostel.
He also asked him to chart out a complete traffic plan.
A press communiqué claimed that the girls told the vice chancellor that they treated him like their guardian who always thought of their well-being.
