LU STUDENTS COME OUT IN SUPPORT OF BHU GIRLS

-

LUCKNOW : The slogans of ‘Banaras Hindu University, we stand united’ reverberated in the air as Lucknow University students staged a protest against sexual harassment case and police lathi-charge on BHU girls on Saturday. The female students of LU staged a demonstration and flayed the state government’s stand on the issue. “We are here in support to the girls who raised their voice against molestation,” said Puja Shukla, a student said. “It’s inhuman on the part of the government that remained mum on cane-charging of girls who were demanding security after a sexual harassment case. At BHU, girls are trained to become an ideal Hindu and at the same time they are being harassed and brutally assaulted,” she said. “Government is claiming that it is making safety arrangements for the fairer sex but at the same time it is not acting in such cases. Ironically, Prime Minister Narendra Modi who gave the slogan of ‘Beti bachao, beti padhao’ was himself in Varanasi when the incident was reported,” she said. Students demanded action against errant officers and staffers and said adequate security should be provided to students.

Journalists seek probe

BAHRAICH : Protesting against the lathicharge by the police on journalists and girls in BHU, journalists handed over a memorandum to the chief revenue officer to be forwarded to Governor.
