LUCKNOW:: Former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee may cease to be a voter from Lucknow in the upcoming civic elections.

Reason: As per rules, if a person is not living at his listed address for more than six months, his name gets struck off the voter list.

The veteran leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been suffering from age-related problems and has not visited Lucknow for the last 10 years.

During the ongoing verification process for the civic voters list, Vajpayee was not found at this residence.

The name of former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee is very much there on the list. Any decision to keep the name in the list or delete it will only be taken when the verification process is over ASHOK SINGH, zonal officer LMC

Vajpayee’s name had been registered from the Babu Banarsi Das ward in Lucknow municipal voters’ list. As per the records, Vajpayee’s Lucknow address has been mentioned as 92/98-1 in Basmandi where the office of Kisan Sangh is located.

He last voted during Lok Sabha elections in 2004 and cast his vote in municipal elections way back in 2000. He has never voted in any election in the city since then. “Verification of voter list is still on. There is no question of removal of any name as of now,” zonal officer, Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC), Ashok Singh said.
