SP to name its president during national convention

AGRA: Samajwadi Party national president, Akhilesh Yadav will be in Agra on October 4 – a day ahead of the 10th national convention of the party here on October 5.

About 15,000 party workers from across the country are expected to attend the daylong meet wherein political and economic proposals would be taken up.

Samajwadi Party’s national president for the next five years will also be named during the convention.

“With barely a week left for the national convention, preparatio­ns are on at the venue – CTO ground on Mall Road. The schedule is being chalked out by the party leadership in Lucknow,” said Raisuddin, city unit president, SP.

On October 5, SP national president Akhilesh Yadav would unfurl the party flag at 9 am on CTO ground to inaugurate the convention.

The day’s proceeding­s would include discussion­s on economic, political proposals and other issues faced by the nation at present.

The SP’s preparatio­n for Lok Sabha elections in 2019 would also figure during the meet, stated party sources.

Akhilesh Yadav would interact with media at 5 pm on October 4, the day when the SP’s national executive meet would be held on the eve of its national convention.

Earlier, about 5,000 party leaders were expected to attend the national convention, but now with the expected number going up three times, the arrangemen­ts are being made accordingl­y.

Senior party leaders, including state unit president Naresh Uttam and spokespers­on Rajendra Chaudhary, are expected to review the preparatio­ns in Agra.
