‘Social, economic inequalities a challenge’
LUCKNOW:Post independent India was confronted with the most daunting challenge of glaring social and economic inequalities, said UP minister Dara Singh Chauhan here on Wednesday.
He said these inequalities should be be addressed on a priority basis.
Speaking at a valedictory function held at Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University on Wednesday, the minister said, “For this, concerted efforts have to be made. India has a predominant youth population. Youth can play a critical role in dealing with socio-economic evils. They can bring about positive change in the society.”
Earlier, the Rashtrarang' camp was held at Dashdoi village of Kakori block in which fine art students, including divyangs portrayed lucrative paintings on the mud walls.
The focus of these paintings is on social and cultural inclusion, incorporating the imperatives of sanitation, literacy, health and environment.
Speaking on the occasion Shrinivas, national co-organising secretary ABVP, said that India's soul lived in villages.
He said that art could solve the present social problems. VC Prof Nishith Rai opined that 'Rashtrarang' camp was the beginning of a great endeavour of inclusion which should be extended to the entire nation.
“Efforts are also required for augmenting resources through corporate social responsibility for actualizing the mission of social and cultural inclusion at the grass roots level,” the vice chancellor said.
Saurabh Uniyal, convener, National Art Forum, said that the aim was to reach each village and construct a grand India.
Eminent writer Addvait Kala cautioned against the excesses in the guise of freedom of speech.
