Cops likely to expunge the case, call it self-scripted story

LUCKNOW : The city police are likely to expunge the case of robbery with retired judge’s wife in Virat Khand, Gomti Nagar on Tuesday afternoon after reportedly finding the incident false.

Police said the woman and her relative had scripted a false story of robbery following some internal dispute in the family over property.

Superintendent of police (North), Anurag Vats said the police team scanned the video footages of multiple CCTVs installed near the house but no corroborative evidence were found that could confirm the victim’s story of robbery.

He said the police are further verifying the phone call records of the woman and her relative to confirm genuineness of the allegations. He said retired judge Vijay Bahadur Yadav’s wife Parvati had alleged that four persons posing as courier agents robbed her of valuables after sneaking into her house. “Police did not find any person entering or leaving the victim’s house while scanning the video footages. Only person who visited the house was the victim’s relative Manoj,” he said.

The SP said according to the woman, she was alone in the house when the incident happened and it came to light when her relative Manoj visited the house to take her to a doctor’s clinic. He allegedly found her lying unconscious on the floor. He said the CCTV footage, however, revealed that Manoj visited the house multiple times when she alleged of robbery.

He said some of the relatives and neighbours, in their statements, suggested that the woman is opposed to her husband’s decision to give some of his property to his nephews. He said she reportedly scripted a false story with help of her relative to gain sympathy from her husband.

The SP said the case will be expunged as the incident seemed to be self scripted.

However, the retired judged had lodged an FIR of robbery against unidentified miscreants with Gomti Nagar police station on Thursday night.
