LUCKNOW: Volunteers from various organisations in the city, in collaboration with Government Industrial Training Institute (GITI), Aliganj, celebrated Daan Utsav by organising a counselling and skill development session for youths from urban slums and rural areas of the city.

On Saturday, organisations like Sanatkada, Indus Action and Yeh Ek Soch (YES) Foundation mobilised the youths aged between 18 and 35 years.

The programme was aimed at counselling and grooming the youths and helping them join vocational training programmes once their counselling was over .

The youths who attended the counselling session were informed about different training programmess. This was followed by an interactive session to boost their confidence .

“Our motive is to train these youths for sustainable livelihoods and we are delighted that Daan Utsav gave us an opportunity to talk about how everyone can be self-reliant,” said a GITI official.

Volunteers who organised the initiative included students and entrepreneur Jyotsna Kaur Habibullah, among others.

Centenarian Begum Hamida Habibullah, former Member of Parliament and an iconic face of Indian womanhood, came to encourage the youths to attend the sessions and be self-reliant.
