LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said it was due to the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh’s nationalist movement that people across the country were singing the national song Vande Mataram with pride.

“The RSS gave us the vision to rise above individualism, casteism, dynasty and work for the country’s development and the people’s welfare. Without government assistance, the RSS volunteers are contributing selflessly in the nation building,” he said.

Adityanath was speaking at a programme organised to release a biography on five sarsanghchalaks (chiefs) of the RSS — Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, Madhavrao Sadashivrao Golwalkar, Balasahab Deoras, Professor Rajendra Singh and KS Sudarshan.

“Leaders of some political parties tried to create confusion among the masses about the work and contribution of the RSS. The biography of the RSS leaders will remove the misperception and doubts of the people”, he said.

The chief minister said if people were not aware of their civilisation and culture, they would not be able to protect their country’s boundary.

“Since 1925, the RSS is striving to create awakening among the masses. The RSS volunteers enlightened us about the ancient Indian civilization,” he said.

Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah said “Even after three bans and continuous attacks by those in power (previously), the RSS continued to work for the welfare of the masses.”

in the freedom struggle. The Sarsanghchalaks focused on the reasons that pushed the country into slavery. People are surprised that RSS has been working for years without a constitution. There was no dispute among the leaders and workers. There was a time when the people were shy to call themselves Hindu but the RSS leaders raised the issue of Hinduism,” he said. Governor Ram Naik recalled his association with the RSS and sarsanghchalaks.
