MEERUT: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) adopted wrong practices to emerge victorious in the state assembly elections.

“They have snatched a small chair from us but we would get back with snatching a bigger one,” said the former chief minister while addressing a rally in Titron town of Saharanpur.

The rally was organised to mark the 96th birth anniversary of Gurjar leader late Ch Yashpal Singh. Insisting that BJP’s talks and deeds are never the same, Akhilesh said he too will not stop himself from talking about casteism and would urge members from Gurjars, Saini sand Kashyaps to associate with his party. While also welcoming Jats into the SP fold, Akhilesh said his party will like to take along people from all the communities to develop the state.

Targeting chief minister Yogi Adityanath, former CM said, “I can’t chant mantras but Samajwadi leaders can talk about expressways, Metro and development of the country.”

“We were criticised for having five centres of powers in the government but what is happening now. The state government has now one chief minister, two deputy chief ministers and two spokesman ministers,” said Akhilesh. He also targeted BJP chief Amit Shah on the controversy involving his son Jay Shah. “I am also interested in learning a formula how a business could be multiplied in few years after spending Rs 50,000.”

Mentioning cases of loot, murders and robbery in the state capital, he raised questions over law and order situation in the state. “Police are taking money and even an SP’s name has figured in accepting bribe. We gave services like 108 and Dial 100 to the state but the present government was paying no heed in strengthening these services for the welfare of people,” he said.
