SORT OUT PERMIT ISSUES, SAYS UPSRTC CHAIRMAN
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) chairman Pravir Kumar held a video-conference with divisional commissioners on Wednesday, sensitising them on the need for sorting out the matters related to issuance of permits to buses for the new rural roads.
Principal secretary, transport, Aradhana Shukla, transport commissioner P Guruprasad and regional transport officers were among those present at the conference.
Kumar, who is also chairman of the Board of Revenue, asked the commissioners to make regional transport authorities (RTAs) functional so that they could take a call on the applications for permits for buses to operate on newly notified roads connecting villages. Various regional transport authorities headed by commissioners have to issue bus permits for 291 new rural routes where both the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation and the private operators can ply.
There are 88 rural routes which are extensions of nationalised routes. Only the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation can operate on these 88 routes at present.
