Hosts PCA start with win in Panthers Cup

LUCKNOW:Hosts Panthers Cricket Academy launched their campaign in the 6th Panthers Cup cricket tournament, defeating Kalpana Cricket Foundation by 74 runs in the opening league match, at the RDSI stadium here on Wednesday. Danish Khan struck 51-ball 50, which contained eight hits to the fence, as PCA scored 196 in 39 overs while batting first after winning the toss. Rishabh Sharma made 31 in 34 balls with the help of four fours. Advitay Dubey, Gopesh Singh and Vaibhav Singh shared wickets between them. In reply, KCF got out for 122 in 36.1 overs despite opener Akash Rawat’s 44.

CHATURVEDI CRICKET

Riverside Academy beat DPS Jankipuram by 14 runs to collect full points in the 19th Avinash Chandra Chaturvedi InterSchoo­l cricket tournament. In other matches of the day, St Marry’s beat Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan by 11 runs, whereas Unity College beat Kendriya Vidyalaya by nine wickets.

THRILLING WIN

Cantt Sporting beat Super Sports Society by a solitary goal in a league match of Satish Mishra football tournament here. MR Joshi struck the all-important in the 25th minute. The other match of the day between Star Eleven and Bal Vidya Bhawan ended in a goalless draw.

FINE SHOW

Anvay Mishra and Priyam Khandelwal hogged limelight in the Inter-School aquatics at Jaipuria School, bagging golden doubles. In Group 3, Anvay won gold in 50m backstroke and 100m individual medley, whereas Priyam excelled in 25m freestyle and 25m backstroke events.
